Act Responsible,

Think Sustainable

At CIMA, we recognize the importance of combining sound financial performance with a commitment to social responsibility, environmental stewardship and economic prosperity.

A Comprehensive Approach to Sustainability

Forest Trees

Environmental stewardship is our priority as we strive to achieve sustainability and environmental preservation. We are committed to continuously improve in our operation in a sustainable manner by strictly adhering to our environmental policy by:

  • Reducing the carbon footprint by incorporating other industry’s wastes such as Fluoride Sludge, Fluid Cracking Catalyst and Fly Ash in our production.

  • Retrieving the co-processing license and special waste management approval from the Department of Environment in relation to legal requirement.

  • Preserving the environment by exploring alternative fuel such as paddy husk, carbon black and energy recycling to reduce our dependence on coal and diesel.

  • Creating natural control barriers against dust and noise from our operations through reforestation and greening initiatives.

  • Adopting operational controls such as noise suppression, isolation of noise sources and careful handling of blasting activities to mitigate the noise pollution.

  • Appointing competent professionals who are fully certified by the Department of Environment to manage EIA projects, scheduled wastes and bag filter operations.

  • All of our plants are certified with ISO 14001:2015 (Environmental Management System).

Nature & Environment

The Waste Heat Recovery System (WHR) at plant in Bahau, Negeri Sembilan

The environment, social and governance (ESG) principles sit high on our agenda at CIMA.

Our commitment to continue operating in a more environmental-friendly and sustainable manner is further reaffirmed through our RM120 million Waste Heat Recovery System

This system, expected to be ready in 2024, will save up to 30% electricity consumption and reduce carbon dioxide emission by 24% at our plant in Bahau, Negeri Sembilan

Health & Safety

Occupational health and safety management across all aspects of our business is of utmost priority in line with our aim to achieve zero fatalities, injuries and illnesses.

We are certified ISO 45001:2018 (Safety Management System) - a recognition of the robust procedures in place to ensure the safety of our employees, contractors, transporters and visitors as well as to safeguard our operational facilities.

Our Health and Safety Environmental (HSE) Committee is being guided by the Main Committee and Accident Investigation Committee. The Company’s Health and Safety Management System and the Plant Operation and Equipment Manual serve to guide our employees and relevant parties involved in the day-to-day operation.

The Emergency Response Preparedness (ERP) approach which has been developed will allow us to mitigate any emergency or occupational incidents, as well as natural disasters through close collaboration with relevant authorities such as Fire and Rescue Department, Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM), National Disaster Management Agency (NADMA) and Ministry of Health (MOH).

Community Assistance

We believe in growing together with the local communities especially in the areas where we operate.

Our Corporate Social Responsibility Program is designed with primary emphasis on education – to provide a more conducive learning environment for the younger generation, especially those from less privileged background and help bridging the educational gap.

This is a specially designed program in collaboration with the local Education Authorities for Form 4 and Form 5 secondary school students to prepare them for Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM).

We invited fellow student mentors with excellent academic record to mentor and share their knowledge with the participants in various subjects including Malay and History. Over 1000 students from selected secondary schools in Perlis and Negeri Sembilan have benefited from the program.

Under this annual initiative, we provide uniforms, shoes, bags and stationaries to underprivileged students in the areas where we operate as well as the children of our own selected employees. The program has assisted in reducing the parents’ burden as well as brought smiles to the faces of the recipients as they begin their new school year.

For more than 20 years, Al-Quran Recital Lessons have been held at our Perlis Plant Surau for local communities especially children aged 7 to 15 years old every Monday to Friday from 5pm to 7pm.
